Daniel Harris

Daniel (Dan) Harris TEP, joined Stone King LLP in 2008. Dan is a Partner and head of the firm's specialist international and cross-border unit and also the head of the charity legacy team. He advises UK and overseas private clients as well as charities and other solicitors on succession and taxation issues in all jurisdictions of the world. Ranked in both Chambers and Legal 500, Dan is described in Chambers as having: " very strong technical knowledge and a determination to get to the heart of the matter and reach the best result for his client," while Legal 500 describes Dan as having: ‘a charm, sincerity and genuine desire to provide the best advice and the most proactive service possible within an agreed cost forecast’ Dan is a full member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) and the Franco British Lawyers Society and a member of the Law Society of England and Wales Cross Border Special Interest group. Dan regularly speaks at client events and writes on cross-border succession and probate matters. He is a cross-border consultant to other solicitors; he provides nationwide training for professional organisations and to other solicitors and lectures on cross border matters on behalf of (amongst others) the Law Society. He has recently undertaken a 27 city lecture tour of the UK, training other solicitors, accountants, notaries and other professionals on the intricacies of international and cross-border work as well as the EU Regulation 650/2012 (Brussels IV). Dan’s work as head of of Stone King’s ‘charity legacy team’ sees him acting for some of the UK’s largest charities, providing advice on some extraordinarily complex cross-border legacies, as well as providing training on cross border charity legacy administration and marketing. He brings to the legal profession broad commercial and ‘life’ experience. He has headed the UK Press and PR department of a Japanese multinational, run his own business and enjoyed a successful career as a publisher. As a young sportsman Dan raced motorcycles professionally to World Superbike level, and has held the ACU British Land Speed Record. In his spare time he pilots a 4 seat aircraft he built himself, to (amongst other destinations) France with his wife and daughter and is a member of the Light Aircraft Association.
