Burgundy enjoys a worldwide reputation for gastronomy and
Art de Vivre , the Art of Good Living because its lands were the richest agricultural lands in the whole of France, the Dukes of Burgundy were even richer than the kings of France!
If you want to put this reputation to the test and check that the culinary traditions and old receipes are alive and well, that the local produce is as varied and as wonderful as ever, that the chefs have lost none of their legendary prowess, then come a stay for a couple a days in the heart of France, in Burgundy of course !
Along your way you will have the chance to savour lots of Burgundy culinary delights : « gougères » (pastry cooked with cheese) to accompany an aperitive in a typical
Bistrot , a few slices of Morvan ham, snails or a Charolais cow steak in a small village restaurant.
Enjoy simple pleasures such as the famous Bresse chicken or an andouillette sausage cooked with Chablis wine followed by Burgundian cheeses like « Epoisses », « Soumaintrain » or goats cheese.
And just to save the best until last, spoil yourself with a dinner at a top restaurant in one of France's most renowned gastronomic regions.
Don't forget that Burgundy is synonymous with great wines, and it's the birthplace of world reputed vineyards such as Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Chablis... A tour in Burgundy incites you to discover other vineyards like the Auxerrois, the Tonnerrois, the Côte-de-Beaune, the Côte-de-Nuits, the Mâconnais, etc... wine-tasting cellars are plentiful ! Each stage of your journey brings the opportunity to savour a particular variety of wine, a grand-cru, or perhaps even a more modest vintage ...
