External facilities
There is plenty of space to 'escape to'! Our 10 acres of tranquil pasture and woodland provide a sense of 'being away from it all'. There is a spring which feeds the lavoir and flows into the stream meandering through our land. The land is bordered by another river which flows through the valley.

On warm summer mornings breakfast can be taken on one of our other vine covered terraces.

Our swimming pool will be installed and available by summer 2008.

Local activities
The picturesque medieval town of Melle and the surrounding countryside is rich in history and associated archeological sites where you will find the Silver Mines of the Frankish Kings and the Carolingian Gardens and Romanesque churches. There are numerous botanical walks, various sporting and leisure facilities, restaurants and cafes.

There is a Friday morning market in Melle. Other morning markets are in Lezay and Niort which are within easy reach of Fontegrive.

Location
We are situated 3 km from the Romanesque town of Melle and its various attractions. Our location provides wonderful opportunities for birdwatching and the quiet country lanes are ideal for cyclists and walkers. About an hours drive away is La Rochelle and the beaches of the Charente Maritime and Vendee and the Marais Poitivin (Green Venice). The nearest airports are Poitiers (50 km) and La Rochelle (90 km). Poitou Charentes is known as the second sunniest region of France.

The diningroom boasts exposed oak beams and a large Charentaise fireplace with log burner.

Our bedrooms are large providing en-suite facilities, comfortable seating areas, TV (French)/DVD and hospitality tray.

The Garden Room has a private entrance and vine covered terrace providing open views across the pastures and woodland. It is light and spacious offering a king-size bed and furnished with a wardrobe and chest of drawers as well as two comfortable armchairs and occasional table. There is an en-suite shower room with a large corner shower, basin and toilet.

The Rose Room is situated on the first floor of the house and has fine views across the valley. It is a large and spacious room with a double bed, wardrobe and two chest of drawers. There are two comfortable armchairs and occasional table. The en-suite is light and spacious providing a bath with overbath shower, basin and toilet.

Hairdryers are also provided. Fans are available for those sultry summer evenings. An oil-fired central heating system warms up our old stone farmhouse in the winter.
