Kitchen facilities
The large well equipped kitchen is fitted with a range style cooker, double oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher & fridge and has an open plan breakfast room with table and chairs overlooking fields. There are ample worktops, kitchen utensils, cutlery, plates and saucepans for a self catering holiday.
External facilities
There is a mature private garden with patio table and chairs and brick built BBQ which leads to the private heated 8x4m swimming pool with Roman steps and a uniform depth of 1.5m, a large sunbathing terrace, sunloungers and parasols and communal gardens, all south facing, with a Boule court, grass short tennis, badminton, swings and sandpit. In the Grange, an open barn, there is a games room with table tennis, a pool table, bar football and air hockey all floodlit at night.
Special features
This charming Charentaise Logis was originally built as a gentleman's residence and vineyard, then later became a working farm before being sympathetically restored and converted to provide separate dwellings.
Approached through grand entrance gates at the end of a private chestnutt tree lined driveway, providing ample shaded parking, La Chataigne the detached farmhouse and four separate individual cottages all overlook the picturesque fountained courtyard, set in 2 acres of landsacaped gardens, with 2 heated pools, a games room and raquet sports.
Located in the centre of the Poitou-Charentes with it's many family attractions and historical buildings, near to forests and woodlands, with meandering rivers, sunflower fields and vinegrowing countryside and a choice of restaurants serving fine foods and wine, the locality and the region has something for everyone to enjoy a relaxing and memorable holiday.
Local activities
The fairytale Chateau Javarzay on the edge of the town has a park and lake just perfect for a picnic or fishing. The Chateau is floodlit at night making a spectacular sight, often the focal point for village events.The source of the River Boutonne to which the town lends it’s name lies deep beneath the church of Notre Dame in the ramparts of the castle in the old town.
A regular open market each Saturday in the town square is an opportunity to buy the best of the local produce.
A variety of sandy beaches are found on the islands of Re, Oleron and Aix and around the the resorts at Royan, Chataillion and Fouras, all of which offer excellent seaford restaurants. Some beaches are suitable for watersports, surfing and windsurfing.
Throughout the region there are ideal locations for canoeing, kayaking and dinghy sailing on sheltered lakes and along the River Charente and a variety of other attractions including zoos,liesure parks guaranteed to entertain the whole family.

Location
Whilst sitting on the edge of a quaint village in the peaceful Boutonne valley, Logis de Lussais is also conveniently near to local amenities in the rural market town of Chef-Boutonne and about 1 hr from the beaches on the Atlantic coast and airports at La Rochelle and Poitiers
The surrounding countryside of woodlands, sunflower fields and forests are ideal for walking and cycling.
The nearest restaurant and boulangerie and the fairytale Chateau Javarzay is within walking distance.
Living rooms
Traditionally described as a Maison de Maitre, the Owners farmhouse is the largest property on this very private Charentaise Logis estate.
The owners can let this farmhouse at times during the summer by special arrangement.
This detached farmhouse has a private south facing gardens leading to a 8 x 4m private heated swimming pool. The farmhouse retains many original features including polished wooden floors, flagstones and log fires. Entered through double oak doors from the main courtyard into an imposing hall with sweeping wooden staircase opening into a large comfortably furnished drawing room with stone fireplace, digital tv & video, sofas and armchairs and a formal dining room with seating for 12 persons. the living accomodation is very spacious .The sitting room alone is 50m2. There is a breakfast room and separate laundry room with washing machine & tumble dryer and door opening onto the private rear garden.

Bedrooms
Upstairs leads to four large bedrooms all on the same landing. All the bedrooms are a very good size with beamed ceilings and wooden floors.
As an example, the first bedroom which overlooks the south facing gardens is about 25m2. This family bedroom has a double bed and two single beds. There are two wardrobes, two bedside cabinets and a dressing table.
The second ensuite bedroom, also overlooking the communal gardens, has a double bed and infant cot (if required) There is a wardrobe and bedside cabinets as well as an ensuite shower room with toilet and wash basin.
The third ensuite bedroom overlooking the main fountain courtyard has a double bed and cot, a wardrobe, bedside cabinets and identical shower room with toilet and wash basin.
The fourth bedroom also overlooks the courtyard and has two single beds, wardrobe, bedside cabinet and chest of drawers.
There is also a large family bathroom with separate bath and shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin.
