Local activities
The Ile d'Oleron is 30 kms long and 10 kms wide and is connected to the mainland by a viaduct which is toll free. It enjoys many hours of sunshine and is famous for oysters, a wide variety of seafood, wine and pineau and salt production. The capital St. Pierre has a pedestrianised centre with lots of small shops and cafes. There are many places of interest to visit and pathways for walking and cycling. Cycles can be hired in most villages. The island is surrounded by wide sandy beaches which are ideal for swimming, surfing, wind-surfing, sailing, fishing, etc. or just lazing in the sunshine.

Location
Situated in quiet location in the village of La Bree-les-Bains our apartment is 150 metres from beautiful beaches stretching 3 kms to the marina at St. Denis at one end and as far as the eye can see at the other. There are shops, restaurant and bar just around the corner and an excellent market every morning in summer with a smaller market in winter.
The beach has soft golden sand and is ideal for swimming at high tide. It is famous for its rock pools where you can find a wealth of shellfish.
