Kitchen facilities
All kitchens are fully fitted and well equipped. A washing machine is located in teh laundry area of the barn for use by Belle Vue Gite & L'Hotel du Poulet (La Vieille Maison has its own washing machine) and drying umbrellas are in the gardens, next to your properties.

External facilities
The heated, saltwater pool is 13m x 5.5m. It has internal steps at the shallow end (1m deep) and a deep end of 2metres. The pool is fenced, gated and alarmed, and there are sunlongers, tables, chairs and parasol shade on teh terrace-which has fantastic views over the surrounding fields. the games barn has table-tennis, darts, table-football, bikes and a games chest full of equipment for outdoor games like boules, football, cricket, badminton.

Courtanne Gites is located in the peaceful French countryside in the beautiful "Coeur du poitou". We are nestled between the traditional market towns of Sauzé-Vaussais and Chef-Boutonne. An hours drive takes you to either historic Cognac, exciting Poitiers (with its Futuroscope theme park) the wonderful coastal city of La Rochelle with its stunning beaches, seafood restaurants and views over the harbour to the islands of Ré, Oleron and Fort Boyard, or lovely historic Angouleme with its shopping centre and ancient buildings. We are surrounded by attractions such as ancient abbeys & churches, zoo's, Melle's silver-mines, and the "Vallée des Singes" is a must-see day out.
All 3 gites at courtanne are detached from eachother to allow each its privacy, yet are close enough to allow a friendly, family atmosphere, ad get-togethers when they are rented together by large groups or families. (max capacity 22)

Local activities
As well as having so much to do at Courtanne Gites itself; swimming, walking, bike-rides, films, badminton, bird-watching, pétanque, football, cricket, kite-flying in the field- & so much more, you can take a leisurely trip around the surrounding countryside on a horse-drawn hayride with one of our local farmers. We have a very good equestrian centre in the next village, which takes beginners as well as more experienced riders. We are close to 2 swimming lakes which are supervised in the summer holidays, and we have a few indoor and outdoor swimming pools in nearby towns-one of which is a 4m deep diving pool! We will be happy to book your table at any one of the many resturants in the area, and there are often fairs and "brocantes" in local villages to find your holiday souvenirs and sample to locally produced pineau and cheeses.

Courtanne Gites is located in the rural "Coeur du poitou". An area of outstanding natural beauty, with the nearby Marais Poitevin canals, beautiful country lanes to explore on foot or bike, and wonderful historic towns and cities within an easy drive, we are perfecty located to explore some of France's hidden treasures. Near Market towns Melle & Ruffec & an hour from Cognac, La Rochelle, Angouleme & Poitiers, with 4 nearby airports and less than 4hours drive from St Malo, we are easy to reach.

All 3 of Courtanne Gites are recently renovated and furnished to a very high standard. The English owners (who are onsite to facilitate your stay) have created a holiday destination which they always looked for on their family holidays, but never found. Each property has plenty of comfortable furniture, well equipped kitchens, and activities for every type of weather and preference, from the games chest in the games barn, to the free film & book libraries available for your use, from the newly installed satellite TV's, to the fantastic heated, saltwater pool with solar shower & terrace furniture.

There are 4 double beds, 12 single bunk-beds, 4 double convertible sofa-beds, a single folding camp-bed and 4 child cots at courtanne Gites. this is to allow for variations in make-up of your group according to couples/singles/children/grandparents/disabled guests etc. See each properties individual descriptions for more details.
