Jarnac guideJarnac is situated on the right bank of the river Charente between the bigger towns of Angoulême and Cognac. It has been famous for champagne brandy production since the 1800s and is known as the birthplace of President Francois Mitterand. The nearest airports are Poitiers and La Rochelle.The warm climate of the region makes visiting Jarnac even more appealing, especially in the summer, and there is much to do in the area. Jarnac is also known for its delicious chocolates; each October the town hosts a chocolate festival. The old town of Jarnac can be discovered with a tour, worth seeing is the St Pierre Church with its 13th century crypt.
