Lorgues in Var is a typical Provencal Market Town close to the Mediterranean coast. It is a medieval town, over 1000 years old. It is a center for the production of olives and olive oil and some of the old olive mills have been preserved. The town also has a long standing tradition of wine making. The nearest airports are Marseille and Nice.Each Tuesday there is an extensive market and it is said to be one of the most beautiful in Provence. In the Classic Collegiale St-Martin (17th century church) can be seen a statue of the Virgin which is attributed to Pierre Puget.
