Mazamet Guide

Nestled in the foothills of the "Montagne Noire" and 40km north of Carcassonne, Mazamet is a bustling market town set amongst stunning scenery in the department of the Tarn, in the Midi-Pyrenees region.

Once the centre of the world's wool and tanning industry, Mazamet has re-invented itself whilst retaining the 1850s charm and architecture of this laid-back corner of France. There are three weekly markets in the town centre, special "Fois Gras" markets are held during the Winter months, as well as one of Europe's largest markets in Revel just 40km away.

With a series of year-round events from the famous "Fanfare Sans Frontiers" - a unique musical gathering from around the globe - and the "Rallye Montagne Noire" car rally.
