Situated in a stunning part of the Pyrenees, just on the northern foothills, Les Cabannes, where this house and businesses are situated, is a thriving village of about 350 people. Les Cabannes is the central village for several more rural hamlets, and therfore has many amenities for its small size, including a small local school, 2 convenience shops, a pharmacy, 2 restaurants, a boulangerie and a pub. It also has a local outdoor pool and crazy golf course, used by a holiday village on the outskirts of the village, during the summer.
Les Cabannes has the advantage of being in the mountains with fantastic access to activities such as walking and skiing, but also only 90mins drive from Toulouse and Carcassonne, meaning that it is a great location for tourists and weekend visitors.
The nearest town is Tarascon sur Ariege, a 10 minute drive away, with its many amenities including cinema, supermarket etc. Also nearby is the spa town of Ax, with its downhill ski station, and Foix, a mediaeval city steeped in history. The plateau de Beille, a famous Tour de France moutain that has a cross country ski station at its summit, rises up directly from Les Cabannes.
