Rare opportunity: A brand new detached ski chalet in the Alps

Just on the market is a rare opportunity to buy a brand new fully-furnished detached three-bedroom ski chalet in Le Bettaix, an uncrowded and typically French Alpine village. Situated at an altitude of 1,560 metres, it is located between the resorts of Les Menuires and St Martin de Belleville in the Three Valleys ski area which boasts 600 kilometres of pistes.

Designed and built by the region’s leading developer, MGM – more usually associated with the creation of leaseback apartments for sale within résidences de tourisme – the chalet is part of a small development, Les Chalets du Doron, comprising just two individual chalets and 14 apartments and built by the company in response to the nature of the location and local planning guidelines.

The three-storey property faces south and west, and has balconies on the two upper floors and an integral garage on the ground floor. It is finished externally in natural local materials, notably pine and stone.

Internally the accommodation is spacious with the floor areas totalling more than 170 square metres.

At the heart of the chalet is an open-plan kitchen-lounge with a solid oak parquet floor with under-floor heating. The culinary area has a fitted kitchen with a full range of appliances beneath granite worktops.

The master suite incorporates a spacious bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. On the ground floor is a private hammam (steam room) in which to relax after a day on the slopes.

At €1,029,000, the price of the freehold property – which includes the furnishings – compares very favourably with properties of a similar size in nearby resorts such as Les Menuires, St Martin de Belleville, Val Thorens and Meribel – which can cost as much as €9,000 to €12,000 per square metre more – reports Richard Deans in MGM’s UK sales office in London’s West End.

About Le Bettaix:

Le Bettaix is situated in the Belleville Valley, the largest of the Three Valleys, above St Martin de Belleville and just below Val Thorens. Offering a variety of traditional Savoyard restaurants to suit every taste, Le Bettaix is ideally positioned as a base from which to explore the whole area. It has easy access to Les Menuires, Meribel and Courchevel.

Getting there:

From London the quickest way to get to in the ski season is to take the Eurostar direct to Moûtiers. The local shuttle bus goes to Les Menuires and from there a taxi or the ski lift provides the link with Le Bettaix.

There are two airports within a two-hours drive of Le Bettaix, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays are feasible. Chambery Airport is just 90 minutes away by road and Geneva Airport is a two-hour drive. Also within reach are Grenoble Airport, two hours and 20 minutes away, and Turin Airport which is two hours and 40 minutes by car.
