For keen skiiers the slopes in the Languedoc Roussillon present a large range of pistes and facilities for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and more! - here is a list (not exhaustive) of wonderful places to stay whilst enjoying the snow. 
If you’re looking for the ideal skiing holiday you’re bound to find the right place in the Pyrenees Orientales where there is a large range of pistes and facilities for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and more!
Winter sports are probably not the first thing one associates with the northern Languedoc Roussillon, but in fact during the winter months one can go skiing on the little known slopes in the Cevennes Mountains in the Lozere department - here is a useful introduction to the slopes and faclities available. 
Situated at the south-west corner of the Aude bordering the Ariege, Camurac is the only resort in the Aude Pyrenees, and mixes the charm of a mountain village with skiing and other gliding sports. 
If you're planning a winter ski break in the Aude and are flying into Carcassonne, you may be surprised to find that the south-western egde of the Aude department is just a few kilometres away from the best ski slopes in the Ariège department.
After a hard day of having fun on the slopes, what could be better than a nice long soak in steaming thermal water before joining friends for a drink? Sounds like the perfect added ski holiday extra! Luckily in the Pyrenees mountain range you’re never far from a natural thermal spring.
If you've never skied or snowboarded before the slopes on the eastern Pyrenees are an ideal place to start and there is a large number of green and blue slopes to practise on once you get to grips with the basics. Here is a useful contact list of the ski schools available. 
In the heart of the eastern Pyrenees, in the Capcir valley, this is a popular ski station in the Pyrenees-Orientales due to its unique and startling beauty - the site overlooks Lake Puyvalador. 
Les Angles ski station has some fantastic new facilities in 2007, has great snow-boarding facilities and also good for unusual sports such as snow kite-surfing and diving under iced over lakes! 
With 500 snow canons skiing at the twinned resorts Font-Romeu and Pyrenees 2000 is guaranteed making it a firm favourite in the Pyrenees-Orientales. 
This is the highest ski station in the eastern Pyrenees with slopes reaching an altitude of 2700m. The area is spread over 320 hectares of wild and exceptionally beautiful landscape - particulary good for free-ride. 
This little Catalan village is only a 10 minute drive from the border with Andorra making it a good base to stop en route to the Andorrean slopes. There's good surf park here and it is popular with freeride enthusuiasts. 
As well as good Alpine skiing, one of the best stations for enjoying cross country ski circuits which lead you through beautiful valleys opening onto crystal blue lakes. 
The ski-station for children! ideally suited for beginners and children, and for those who'd rather sit at the restaurant terrace enjoying the panoramic views! 
The tiny village of Mosset in the Pyrenees prides itself on being the smallest ski station in the world - no good for serious skiers, but a lovely day to this village also labelled as one of France's most beautiful! 
This is the place to go for cross-country skiing with over 190km of marked pistes taking you through forested dells, past auqaline lakes, and onto the plateau overlooking spectacular views of the Pyrenees. 
Situated in the nature reserve of the Eyne valley, Espace Cambre d’Aze is a great place to go for beginners and families, or for those looking to enjoy the slopes on a budget. 
As if the department of the Pyrenees Orientales didn’t have enough going for it already, for those with a passion for shopping there is an added bonus to be found on its south-west border ... Andorra!
