Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie In The Tarn & Aveyron

The Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie (CPAM) is the French national health insurance office.

Your arrival in France on a permanent basis, brings with it the need to sign up to the French health care system. Registration (and any required payments) entitles you to reimbursement of a percentage of consultations and treatment that you require. Whether you are fully or early retired, on benefits, or are looking to start a business in the future, you must register with CPAM (see address below). Don't rely on a visitor’s E111. You could end up with a very large bill! If your case is not straight-forward or you are not fluent in French, it is advisable to go to the International Relationship Centre “Service des Relations International” in Albi or Millau.

The main centre in the Tarn is on Place Lapérouse in Albi which is also where the International Relationship Centre is located. However, there are 5 other centres. They all have the same website address, opening times and telephone number and hours.

If you cannot go to any of these centres, there may be somebody from the CPAM in a village near to your home as there are 25 surgeries « permanences » in smaller towns or large villages in the department. They are held weekly and usually take place in the mairie for 1-2 hours.

Once you have registered and have a social security number, you can ask a question or follow your refunds on the website of the CPAM in the Tarn.

The first time you will need to ask online for a pin number (code confidentiel). They will reply within 48 hours.

CPAM AVEYRON
The main centre in the Aveyron is on Avenue Bamberg in Rodez. However, there are 3 other centres. The International Relationship Centre is located in Millau. They do not have a website yet but it is currently being built. They all have the same opening times, telephone numbers and telephone hours.
