What Is the Alliance Française de Londres?
The London Alliance is a local charity dedicated to sharing French language and culture with Londoners. It has been in London since 1884. We offer group classes in a grade II-listed Georgian building at Alliance House, 5 minutes walking distance from Baker Street and Marylebone Stations. The location is perfect.
We know Londoners are very busy people but we offer classes for everyone!
Our clients can choose from a wide range of courses depending on their availabilities. Some of them come every day for 2 weeks; others come twice-a-week for 6 weeks or once-a-week for 12 weeks. We run classes in the morning (from 10 am), in the afternoon (from 1.30 pm) and in the evening (from 6.15 pm).
We also offer classes on Saturday mornings for busy people or those who want classes at a more leisurely pace.
Private Tuition and In-company Training
Alliance Francaise de Londres offers private tuition for individuals and groups. Tuition is given at our school or at your central London location. We design and deliver training programmes for business, banks, charities, the civil service and many other organisations across London.
Join us for a private French course “sur mesure” and tailored to your goals!
All our tutors are native French teachers, qualified to teach French as a foreign language and very committed to providing a high standard of tuition. They are recruited with a lot of care and they only work for us unlike other schools which contract tutors who sometimes teach without much commitment.
Our communicative & task-based approach encourages our students to speak and interact as much as possible during our lessons. Our students are immersed in French from the word go, as this is the fastest way to get them speaking. They first get to listen or read a document and the tutor will guide them to a deeper study of the language through this document. We use a dynamic approach with a lot of pair-work to make the class lively and fun.
For those with a higher level, a novel is chosen during each session and our students come to the class and practice their French, talk about current affairs and other topics in a nice and relaxed atmosphere.
Other Advantages of Studying with Alliance Française de Londres
You will study in a friendly atmosphere, build your confidence and skills within small group tuition (5 to 15 students). As well as the quality of the teaching, textbooks are free of charge and as a registered charity we do not charge VAT.
Unlike other schools, there is no joining fee to study with us and we try to keep our prices as low as possible.
Our building is of historical interest and well-located and our classrooms are air-conditioned and all equipped with Interactive Touch Screens. Classes are also supported by a web-based platform that allows to download the material used in the class.
I would like to thank Alliance Française de Londres for a great learning experience. This has been the most informative and interactive class I have ever attended. And I must admit it challenged me and pushed me to learn and improve. Thank you once again.
The teacher, the class format and the learning experience itself were all fantastic and I would definitely recommend the course to others wishing to learn French.
I like the way the course is taught very much. It really suits me. I have done other courses, but this is much more effective – being immersive and steers clear of scary grammatical terms. My teacher is terrific – very engaging, lively with a light, humorous touch (but rigorous at the same time).
