Doubt it will stop the folks who drink and drive though…..

…like the guy in the boulangerie yesterday who reeked and could hardly stand up. He got his pain, had a struggle finding money; the baker had a quiet word with him, but he still got into his massive quatre-quatre and careered off down the road…towards town

So let’s see. As a regular non-drinker, you buy your one-and-only 1€ cheapy Chinese-import ethylotest, shove it in the boot along with the jerry can, spare bulbs and jack. Then what? Three years later, you’re stopped by the gendarmes, asked to show your compliant and, voilà Monsieur, one unused blow-in-the-bag in the boot – presumably that’s all OK?

Or are you supposed to carry a used one to prove that you blew into it when you joined the public highway? Will there be a market on eBay for “all clear” results ?

Probably one of the most stupid utterances yet to come from the mouth of Sarkozy …

A “packet of three” will also have to be kept behind the sun visor, in case you get lucky :D

But don’t put too much in your boot as no doubt there will be more regulations coming into force which will include the need for carrying a blood analysis machine to carry out checks to ensure you’ve not been snorting, smoking or injecting illegal substances.

Not always the most accurate source of information I grant but Connexions reckon the fine for not having one will be €11.

    That’ll do for me

Good to see the Connexion keeping up its abysmal record of NOT getting anything at all right to do with living in France
As Tom has already pointed out and is available from many French language sources ” En cas de non-respect de l’obligation, les automobilistes encourront une contravention de 1ère catégorie, soit 17 euros.

Yes but if you are pie eyed and forget your Hi-Vi it goes up to 135€ or as the connexion will put it “this fine only applies to cars registered in France so will not affect the majority of our readers”:lol:

There’s a real honey that splits her time between Mareuil and Brantome, but I reckon she will still nick me for not having a tester…
