We started work at 10am Tuesday fell into bed just before midnight. Started again at 7.45am Wednesday finished at mid day, well under 24hrs. We are moving into this house next summer. This room is going to be one of the bathrooms. It was just the two of us working yesterday, icey is not bad on a chop saw these days and she is good at cutting noggins.

The beams were not that pretty and not worth exposing, plus being in one of the coldest parts of the Limousin you want it well insulated in the winter. :D not that its ever cold in France

This is what it was like when we arrived yesterday, the old internal walls were straw and mud, we took them out last year.

Horrible T+G ceilings, badly fitted and damaged.

Yes that is a garden fence but its not for the bathroom. Bathroom sink on the back wall.

Rockwooled the ceiling and lined it out with wooden board.

Just another view of the ceiling.

    Ceiling now finished

Waterproof bathroom cladding on the ceiling

    Insulated the stone walls

    Then it got insulated plasterboard

Next week it will be repaired and plastered

    Other end

With the proper green waterproof plasterboard on the walls

The wood in the walls are spaced less than 40 cm apart and there are loads more noggins in the walls than in these photos but we were rather pressed for time as opposed to doing a photo shoot as we needed to get the room pest proof to sleep in otherwise we’d be sleeping sitting up in the van :P

Typhoo, it is on the border of the Creuse and Correze.

Top of the stairs but you’ll need to wait, there’s a queue.

Ally, look at that first photo again, the rest of the house is in that state :P so at the moment there is not only no first floor but there is no staircase. There is going to be a bathroom and bedroom on the ground floor for the any auld yins that come to stay :P

Whynot, I am very pleased to say that we did get the room finished just enough to be able to put a bed up in it for the night and close a door.

Don’t need to. I saw it the first time. I was just having a wee jolly jape and in my own way acknowledging your work. I feel terrible now.
