 I was thinking of ‘almost’ Spoonerism…not palindromic, sorry! Tried an anagram but there are only 17 letters in ”man who calls me clam’ so I gave up on that…oh well..back to the drawing board :(

    Was Heatheranne’s odds-against?

    and…once we get past Nifty’s palindrome…
    ….no-one has yet answered my post/clue . ‘Being down’ ( 8 )

No, sorry Val, but it will be a good answer [probably better than mine] surely because Char said in the intro any passable answer is ok . It doesnt have to be the answer you thought of when setting it. Or thats how I read it anyway. :)

This is obviously a pretty subjective game and I would agree it doese’t have to be anything, but, if somone sets a clue that they think may be particularly subtle, I feel that somhow that should stay ‘in play’ until eiter somone gets it or admits defeat, a time lmit perhaps? then a score sheet could be set up as competition may add another more objective dimention to Crosswords. (or is that too much like some other threads;)

Presume Malcolm Mclaren of Sex Pistols manager fame?

Sorry…still can’t get an answer  …nearest I got ‘Managed the Pistols’ but it’s the wrong number of letters and isn’t palindromic . Seeing as no-one else has posted for this particular quiz in a week…can you put me/us out of our misery please
