I hope this is an easy question to answer. We are in the process of buying a house built in the 1970s. The diagnostics have come back with a few issues regarding the electrical installation, but nothing too serious.

The house has been left vacant for over 18 months and the EDF supply has been disconnected. Will the installation require an inspection by the Consuel (and to meet current standards) before EDF will reinstate the supply?

In a word, no. You simply ask one of the energy suppliers for a new “contrat d’électricité”. It’s helpful if you can get the PDL (Point de Livraison) number from the previous owner as that allows a supplier to indentify the physical location. The PDL is on all electricity bills.

Thank you. That is a relief.
