The mon réseau URL is of little use as it is out of date and gives info for SMS and phone NOT FF**IN 4G.
Fof example around Gourgé there are no Free antennas shown. LIES THERE ARE AERIALS AT LOUIN, LA PEYRATTE AND LAGEON.
The mast at lageon for example has SFR, Bouygues and Free. The ARCEP COCK-UP shows lageon as being ONLY BOUYGUES WITH ONLY 3G AND 2G.
    Farcical…..almost useless.

The antennes mobiles App has correct up to date information.

Thanks for the explanation in plain terms, it helps a lot.

I was intrigued to find that Orange antenne myself as it doesnt show on most of the coverage sites, it appears to be within the aircraft factory area and the detailed info was not there, could it be a Femtocell?

But it is indeed what is triggering the problem of the Orange/Free intinerance, the sim will switch to Orange when it has the stronger signal (which is Orange 3G+HSPA if that means anything to you) and Orange bride it to a completely unusable speed as per their agreement.

I have no doubt that without that transmitter I would remain connected to and get a good debit from Free 4g, am going into town now, on the way back while still on Free I am going to connect to the remote viewing of my CCTV, then I am going to drive past quickly and head in the direction of the next Free 4g mast, I reckon I will remain connected.

I dont think that there is anything that either of you can do to change my situation but would be delighted to be proved wrong, the Rambling Celt seems abandoned to the situation (cant find the word in English), I will just wait till my 12 months at €1 ends in the hope that something will change, there are certainly thousands of Freenauts suffering and it must be costing Free for the re-routing of the calls and losing unhappy customers.

I have exactly the same as you the phone connects to the strongest signal if it is a free 3g the debit is OK with Orange it is bridé. Of course I take advantage of this particularly in Parthenay. All I do is to allow the 3g connection to stay connected until I am in the free 4g area THEN I force the registering of the free 4g connection.
The phone will then stay on 4g playing TV or whatever. When I move out of 4g cover it reverts to 3g,strongest signal.
At home with orange 3g,force the free 4g connection and watch youtube and observe if the connection holds up.

I cant force the connection as the Free 4g signal does not show up unless I go for a walk looking for it, the Freemobile Netstat app has a setting to rafraîchir le réseau périodiquement which I have set, it may have been you that told me of it.

Explain what you meane exactly by ‘force the connection” perhaps I have misunderstood and am doing something else.

    <hr>

    Wrote about it yesterday!
    Forgotten quickly.
. In respect of the Smartphone check with the phone more closely the 4g reception shadow. Click on the tools cog, click on mobile net, click on Sim card 1,in window that opens select réseaus disponible. Wait until a list of all available networks appears. Click on free 4g and the phone will register to only the free 4g network.

Programs are written by stupid people and smartphone follows the code blindly. So switch on and wait for it to find strongest signal and connect.
THEN give it the new order as above to
register on the free 4g service.

Thats where I was, couple of obstacles to contourner, its already registered on the Orange 3g network and probably all the others with my mucking around, how do I un- register it?

I get what you are saying and once unregistered from everything else i will go to the rocade to pick up the Free 4g signal, register and not register with any other networks, I dont need or use the phone as a phone, something it appears to be completely useless at anyway!

I can see now why it took me so long and a trip to arras to connect to Free, the network was not available chez moi so I selected Orange, by chance mucking around at Arras I found and selected Free 4g, now that is all i want on the phone, it will either work or it wont but at least I will know.

thanks for your patience, thats to ANO as well.

    1) Dial *#*#4636#*#*
    2) Phone information
    3) Select preferred network type
    4) LTE only

    Don’t do anything!!
Just tell me if “Select preferred network type” is available.

Yes it was available, I followed your instructions, selected LTE only and then saw the “dont do anything” warning, looks like it was too late, I have backed out of the page but i think the setting may have changed.

Phone no longer works, no network, but thats no loss, I have never made or recieved a call in 4 months.

I will go for a drive to the Free 4g antenne and see if it connects.
