Thinking I need gender realignment ‘cos I went to Montluçon for three things that I wanted and nothing else. Have to say I’m greatly impressed with LeClerc Montluçon and their staff was a joy to deal with. One of the nicest supermarkets I’ve been in and excellent selection. In electrical dept asked if I bought two items would I get a discount. Guy said that’s the first time he’d been asked that by an English person. Had to tell him that I’m a Scot and it’s normal. His reply was that I’d picked the right region to be in as the folk from Auvergne have the same reputation. Then went to Brico Depot and dealt with an equally cheery, helpful guy – paint mixed for the woodwork on stairs weyhey.
Pooch with OH so no walks today.

Washed down all woodwork on stairs. Spent 4.5hrs masking the treads on 3 floors ready for undercoat tomorrow. Thought the colour I’d chosen was too dark but did a test patch and it’s lovely – chalky sage green. Let’s hope still like it once it’s been done. Back aching so it’s a lazy evening in front of telly.

Wishing I was in a relationship with a painter and decorator and not an engineer :( My back and neck are aching like mad ‘cos of painting underside of stairs – all three floors. Also wishing I’d chosen white as colour then it would be so much easier. Didn’t stop for lunch as didn’t think I’d re-start ha……….. Now sitting down with a well deserved glass of rosé……..don’t know if have energy to cook but luckily have some cheese and onion crisps………

Assistant shed maker – except I said I just couldn’t lift the roof on (it weighed an absolute ton). After a lot of fiddling around we eventually got it in place and I retired (was retired!) to the kitchen to cook dinner.
My back and ribs and legs will ache tomorrow!

Spent best part of the morning in bed with man flue & early afternoon at  Gedimat who had overcharged me something rotten. Walked away with a cash refund & went home to cut the lawn. An altogether scintilating day here at Earths End. Tomorrow I’m making new doors for the longere so that could possibly be a little more exciting

Off to lie on sofa. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be able to move my neck more freely.

2 flights of stairs second coat – another flight to do tomorrow. Looks like needs a 3rd coat arghhhhhhhhh. Shattered. After this job is complete I never want to do another big job unless it means not having to bend my neck. Popping over to see elderly friend. Lazy evening.

That’s the final coat on underside of stairs – 3rd one so so much for monocouche. For some strange reason the darker paint went on better than the white and only needed 2 coats. Visited elderly friend. Cut grass.
