WHERE TO BUY IN FRANCE NOW!

The Château de Saumur dominates the skyline and was rebuilt by King Henry II during the later 12th Century.

The area is famed throughout France for its gentle climate, known as ‘la douceur angevine’ (the softness of Anjou) after the historic duchy that the city sins in. The weather’s much better than in the UK, with longer, hotter summers and milder winters.
The transport links are good, with plenty of Autoroute connections (A11, A85) making it easy to take a day trip to Paris, Nantes or the Atlantic coast. The nearest ferry port, Caen Ouistreham, is only 2.5 hours drive away, and there are regional airports at Tours, Nantes, Angers (Marcé) and Poitiers. TGV trains run from Saumur and Angers, and there are connections to the Eurostar via Lille or Paris.
Whatever the economic climate,

the Loire Valley ( a UNESCO World Heritage Site) remains a sought after area and a popular place to buy property. The last 18 months have seen the return of overseas house buyers to the local market, and British property hunters are always surprised how much better value for money the houses are than in the UK. With house prices starting from well under €100,000 and rising into the millions, buyers can find anything from reasonably priced village homes in need of work to town-houses, country properties with land and B&B or gîte businesses through to large châteaux.
