ICS Côte d’Azur is a bilingual, co-educational, IB World Primary School serving the international and local community in the Sophia Antipolis region, southwest of Nice. The school offers Early Years and Primary Years education from KG1 (age three) to PY6 (age 11). The school is a proud member of Globeducate, one of the world’s leading premium bilingual and international schools groups, with over 55 schools and online programmes in nine countries.
Formerly known as EBICA, ICS Côte d’Azur welcomes students from around the world, offering an international education within the inquiry-based framework of the IB Primary Years Programme, whilst also integrating the national curricula for England and France.
A Truly Bilingual School
Bilingual education is an exceptional proposition for students’ communication and social skills development, and ICS Côte d’Azur is the only accredited bilingual school in the region offering the IB Primary Years Programme in French and English. Within the school’s multicultural community, students are immersed in both languages with equal measure, in an environment that promotes international understanding, while fostering an appreciation of French culture. The school offers language support programmes for learners of French as a foreign language FLE and English as a foreign language (EFL) ls. Specialist teachers assist learners in the acquisition of either language, bringing them the linguistic competencies required to access the curriculum and progress with confidence.
A Culture of Care
A team of internationally-minded teaching staff puts every student at the centre of their learning journey, creating an exceptional culture of care within the school. Teachers tailor the bilingual learning experience to the individual, and encourage students to express themselves with assurance at their own pace. Every child is nurtured through personalised attention that builds confidence and fosters academic achievement. This caring environment ensures a sense of wellbeing where all children can feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
STEAM and Innovation
Sophia Antipolis, renowned for for innovative research in the fields of science and technology, is often referred to as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of Europe. To reflect its location, ICS Cote d’Azur is developing an innovative STEAM programme (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths), with a dedicated tinkering lab called The Hub. Opened in April 2021, The Hub houses a 3D printer, science equipment, a state of the art interactive touch screen, a green screen, and LEGO® Education robotics kits. The school was awarded the Apple Distinguished School status in 2019, which is a guarantee of ongoing commitment to both the resources and teacher training that support innovative educational practices. As today’s students will be the designers and creators of tomorrow, they need to develop design-process and critical thinking skills, as well as creativity and resilience, within collaborative environments. ICS Côte d’Azur is committed to igniting curiosity and equipping students with the skills and knowledge that will shape their impact on the future.
As a Globeducate school, students have the opportunity to connect with their peers across the world within the group, in person or online, for sport, music, arts, academic challenges, and to work with others to help build a more equal, fair and sustainable world. Through partnerships with WWF and Eco Schools, ICS Côte d’Azur has a calendar of events and learning opportunities related to sustainability and conservation, as all schools in the group address the social, economic and environmental challenges that are reshaping our communities across the world. Globeducate teachers inspire and encourage their students to find their voice; to understand world events; to contemplate their values and what is important to them; and to challenge ignorance and intolerance.
The ICS Côte d’Azur team is committed to inspiring all learners to grow, intellectually and emotionally, through a stimulating, innovative and holistic bilingual programme. Students embrace academic challenges with open-mindedness, enthusiasm and the motivation to solve problems. The school is proud to share the same principle value across all of Globeducate: we prepare each student to become a global citizen who can shape the world.
