Since 2001 the Phoenix Association in Dordogne has been working to raise money for the welfare of stray animals and rehome dogs and cats in their care.
The main fundraising events are two book sales in spring and autumn, which results in the largest gathering of expats in the Dordogne (if not the whole of France).
To donate books, call 05 53 24 38 08 or get in touch by email.
Donated books are sorted by a team of volunteers meeting every Friday during the year. In 2011 over €24,000 was raised by the two book sales.
For those moving to the Dordogne, joining some form of club or association can help them integrate.
The Phoenix Association organises fundraising events all year round, including a Fête des Plantes. It offers plenty of opportunities to get together.
So if you want to meet new people in Dordogne and play a part in the local community, please get involved.
The Phoenix Association is a non-profit making organisation and relies on help from members and volunteers. For more information, contact Lynda Atkins on 05 53 81 30 44 or by email.
