During the comprehensive renovation, the very best of its traditional beams, chestnut flooring and exposed stone walls have been retained, while adding a modern kitchen, new bathrooms, complete ceiling and wall insulation, and a heated outdoor pool.Original features have been retained wherever possible – the chestnut floors in the loft, exposed stone walls on the gable ends and quality flagstone paving throughout the lower level.
The house was completely re-wired and the EDF connection was re-laid, underground and invisible.
The roof was totally overhauled by a roofing specialist: it has been insulated using a range of modern materials including both fiberglass and multi layered reflective insulation. The house is warm in the winter and cool in summer.
All the exterior walls are insulated to ensure minimal heat loss. The heating throughout is provided by quality aluminium reflecting radiators with individual controls.
All the windows are double glazed to the latest standards: five large Velux windows ensure that the whole top floor is extremely light and airy with excellent views over the garden.
All EDF and phone supply to the house has been specially buried underground.
The wooden floors are constructed of original strong chestnut flooring which has been sanded and stained to enhance its appearance.
Gravel parking area to the side of the property sufficient for three vehicles, with a covered garage for one: separate locking storage shed for bikes, outdoor furniture etc, and separate pool house: all new UNDERGROUND electrical services. Completely new perimeter drainage.
