THINGS TO DO IN PYRÉNÉES-ORIENTALES

  • Perpignan is the department's capital and the last major city in France before the Spanish border, the vibrant city is a must-see for its wide boulevards and winding streets as well as the lively Estivales festival during the summer.
  • Pyrénées-Orientales is home to the town of Céret which is thought to be one of the birthpalces of Cubism, explore the Musée d´Art Moderne where you’ll find numerous works by iconic 20th century artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Chagall.
  • If you’re after somewhere more remote head to the coast of Pyrénées-Orientales where you’ll find long sandy Mediterranean beaches and traditional fishing towns. In August head to the town of Collioure where you can have a front row seat to its annual Saint Vincent festival.
