This beautiful château is built in Burgundy, a region rich of history, 45 minutes from the TGV station that serves Paris in 1h20, Lyon in 40 minutes and Marseille in 2h30; a shuttle connects the train station to Autun.
The chateau, very sunny, facing South, away from any noises pollution, in a bucolic environment, was built at the fringe of the Morvan Natural Park, currently Natura 2000 area; it overlooks a small green valley near the archaeological site of the Gallic oppidum of Bibracte.
It is located 4 km from the village which has a few shops (grocery, coffee, newspapers) and 12 km from Autun (all shops and services/golf 18 holes/aerodrome).
In 1729, the property belonged to Louis XV's advisor. His family has lived and managed the lands until the 20th C. The château, which is rather atypical for the region but nevertheless graceful, was covered with purple slates from England and the roof of the round tower is made of glazed tiles; all the moldings are in pink granite.
The chateau, with a living area of 1000 sqm, spread over 3 levels, includes:
On the ground floor, recently renovated: a large entrance hall serving a large bright living room (48 sqm) overlooking the park, a dining room, a small living room opening onto a terrace, an office, a kitchen, pantry room, laundry room/cellar.
A beautiful central double flight oak staircase and a service staircase allow access to the floors.
On the first floor: 5 spacious bedrooms including one with a living room, have all their private bathrooms and wc. They enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside.
On the second floor: 5 bedrooms, 3 awaiting renovation, 3 bathrooms. A large room (37sqm) initially used as a laundry room, can be converted into a billiard room or playroom.
In the basement: 2 cellars under all the surface of the chateau.
Superior high ceilings on the floors, almost all rooms have an original fireplace. The period appearance has been preserved: oak parquet floors, moldings, stylobates, etc.
The outbuildings comprise:
Near the chateau, a dovecote with its old oven and a wood shed was transformed into a guest house completely renovated with shower room.
A shelter for two vehicles and garden maintenance equipment was built in the back.
The chateau is in an estate of 14 acres (6ha) comprising a park, meadows, forest and orchard. The large park benefits from a clear view of the valley and meadows.
An orchard adjoining the guest house has been designed to accommodate a pool (the technical room and connections are existing).
