Standing proudly on a hill near a historic village is our barn built in 1813 and pair of farmhouses. One house is basic but habitable with five rooms. The barn could provide a substantial home or an income-generating B&B. The second house would require complete renovation. All three buildings face onto a large courtyard with views beyond.
Until recently the base for a working farm, the farmhouse requires limited investment to make it fully habitable to act as a base while work is done on the barn and second house. We have maintained the roof of the barn while inside it is completely original with a huge timber frame and stone walls. The second house will require full renovation but offers good additional income potential or scope for a multi-family project. The farmyard is a large open area which would landscape well, with far-reaching views over the valley. To one side of the second house is a large area which could be laid out to vegetables.
The village, which is a short walk or two-minute drive, provides a supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants, bakery and other amenities and is around 5 hours from Caen/Le Havre and 2.5 hours from Tours airport. Larger towns within 15 minutes offer major supermarkets, DIY stores and other services. Stunning surrounding countryside is perfect for cycling, horse-riding or walking as the backroads are very quiet and well-surfaced and there are many public tracks.
Imagine living in a barn built shortly before Wellington defeated Napoleon, in a beautiful, unspoilt region of France yet one that is very accessible from the UK and with a real sense of community. This is a project but one which can be done in phases and still provide great pleasure along the way.
