Sitting on the riverside in the heart of one of the Dordogne Valley's best loved gems we find this tastefully and stylishly renovated stone property.
Originally a merchant's house, this delightful property offers stylish and comfortable accommodation with an outstanding view of one of the most attractive sections of the Dordogne River.
Entering through the small but perfectly presented garden and dining terrace we step into the large open plan living area with a modern fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting room with woodburner and custom made bar area. The rooms have 3.6 metre ceilings, exposed stone, original oak beams, character fireplace - a delightfully comfortable space for entertaining.
Stairs up to the first floor lead into a large master suite with extensive fitted wardrobes and dressing area. The double doors and juliette balcony open on to a fabulous view of the Dordogne River and to the side, the Chapel of Penitents - one of Beaulieu's iconic landmarks. The bedroom opens directly to a very comfortable snug/sitting area with a large fireplace and wood burner and a small fitted kitchen area. The modern ensuite bathroom and separate lavatory complete the comfortable and spacious master suite.
The original cellar, at ground level, has been thoughtfully converted to offer a second bedroom suite. The large double bedroom has double doors opening onto the garden and offering a beautiful view of the River. The large ensuite bathroom and second "occasional" bedroom with bunk beds and kitchenette make this a very practical space and absolutely ideal for a teenager or airbnb rental.
The integral garage has plenty of space for parking and for laundry facilities. Like all medieval villages, outside space is at a premium and to have both a garden and a garage is a real bonus.
Beaulieu sur Dordogne is a perfect example of why the Dordogne Valley is so loved. Built in a wide loop of the River, the town stands around the 12th century Romanesque church and market place. The winding medieval lanes with their restaurants, cafes and cute independent shops have year round interest but the town comes alive during the long summer. The Monday evening market is a local highpoint.
This comfortable and well appointed house is spacious enough to serve as a primary residence but has real possibilities as a "lock up and leave" or an air bnb. Buckets of potential which should be viewed early!!!
