Ref.3426 : Beautiful castle for sale in Centre of France.

This interesting property benefits from a privileged location in this region of Berry visited and appreciated for its wines, its castles, its historical monuments, its forests and its hunts. This château is located on a North South road, connected to the Central East of France. The cities of Bourges or Saint-Amand-Montrond will provide for the needs.

This castle is encased in a quiet and protected rural village, and this situation does not damage from its privacy and the tranquillity of the place. It is fully open to the park, and the distant horizon is its main view.

The most visible building is the Gothic revival château. Impressive structure in its purest Viollet Le Duc style, slender, largely illuminated with its high bays, crowned with high roofs surmounted by frieze, shouldered by towers and turrets, this house remains a pure witness of this splendour period. The stone, with which the castle is built, is a hard limestone, so that the elements of ornamentation have not been eroded by time.

The Château comprises :
On the ground floor: the old kitchens intact, its well with the pump, the wooden bunker or charcoal, the pantries, the laundry, the base heater, the cellars and linen cupboard.
On the raised ground floor: anteroom, the small and large living rooms, the dining room, the office and the service staircase.
1st floor: a vestibule, two main bedrooms each with bathroom and toilet. The largest room measuring 45sqm with a ceiling height of 4m is surrounded by blond oak panelling.
On the 2nd floor: accessible by the service staircase and by a spiral staircase extending the main staircase, a central corridor serves 8 maids rooms, a bathroom, a library in the main tower, regularly pierced, giving a panoramic view like a belvedere.
The surface is about 180 sqm per level.

Adjacent and communicating on its two levels by a gallery, the second castle is older. It seems to date back to the 16th century and had to be reworked in the 18th and 19th centuries. It comprises :
On the ground floor: several entrances, 2 living rooms, dining room, kitchen office, boiler room and wc. Of course the rooms are ornamented with carved marble fireplaces, molded ceilings or apparent joist.

1st floor: served by a main stone staircase and a hidden staircase, a hallway distributes 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 toilets and wc.
2nd floor: 6 more bedrooms, attic and 4 bathrooms.
The surface per level is about 210sqm.

Total area of the two castles: 1350sqm

The outbuildings form a closed courtyard of walls and a gate with 2 masonry pillars, and gives access to the village.
On the left, a first building, remodelled in the Gothic revival period, shows the stables, the old caretaker's house, now dilapidated, and the car garages. Above, attics and old service rooms. To the right, other stables, sheds and from behind garden sheds, orangery, drying room.

A beautiful planted park with mature trees, leaded on a view by a breakthrough on the countryside, has a cadastral surface of 7.74 hectares. Some meadows allow to graze horses. Pretty vegetable garden, partially enclosed by walls and a moat, with some fruit trees, vines and a greenhouse.
