Claude, (Ernst Umhauer) is a 16 year-old school boy who has taken to spying on one of his classmates and their family in their home, using them as inspiration for his English homework – a piece of work that catches the attention of his teacher, Germain (Fabrice Luchini, Potiche) who is duty-bound to warn Claude about his behaviour, suggesting he make better use of his imagination instead. But it’s not long before Germain becomes hooked on the reports he receives, even reading them aloud to his wife Jeanne (Kristin Scott Thomas) and encouraging Claude, in spite of the risks involved. Watching events unfold feels uneasy, but before you know it, you too will be under Claude’s spell. Simply irresistible. ★★★★
