 2009/2010 School CalendarThere are three terms in the school year starting in September (or late August in a few experimental primary schools), with all half-term breaks and between-term holidays of two weeks, except for a shorter break in November. Dates vary according to the Zone you live in. The official dates for 2009/2010 are listed beneath the map showing the three Zones that each group together a number of regional education authorities (académies). For Corsica, and overseas departments, dates are different. For these, you’d need to check at the Ministry of Education website www.education.gouv.fr under calendrier, and click on the relevant area. Yellow = Zone A, Pink = Zone B, Purple = Zone C. ZONE A Caen, Clermont-Ferrand, Grenoble, Lyon, Montpellier, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Rennes, Toulouse Return to School: 02-09-09 All Saints’: 24-10-09 to 05-11-09 Christmas: 19-12-09 to 04-01-10 Winter: 13-02-10 to 01-03-10 Spring: 10-04-10 to 26-04-10 Summer: 02-07-10 to 02-09-10 ZONE B Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Besançon, Dijon, Lille, Limoges, Nice, Orléans-Tours, Poitiers, Reims, Rouen, Strasbourg Return to School: 02-09-09 All Saints: 25-10-09 to 05-11-09 Christmas: 19-12-09 to 04-01-10 Winter: 06-02-10 to 22-02-10 Spring: 03-04-10 to 19-04-10 Summer: 02-07-09 to 02-09-10 ZONE C Bordeaux, Créteil, Paris, Versailles Return to School: 02-09-09 All Saints: 25-10-09 to 05-11-09 Christmas: 19-12-09 to 04-01-10 Winter: 20-02-10 to 08-03-10 Spring: 17-04-10 to 03-05-10 Summer: 02-07-10 to 02-09-10 NB: Holidays start in each case after the end of classes on the date indicated. When holidays begin on a Saturday, for those pupils who have no class that day, the holiday period begins on the previous Friday, after classes end.
