Welcome to FrenchEntrée's property section for Alsace. The Alsace region includes two departments - Bas-Rhin
, and Haut-Rhin
The Alsace region shares its border with Germany and to the South with Switzerland and has strong Germanic influences in its culture, gastronomy and often in the styles of property. The capital of Alsace is Strasbourg
with other notable cities including Colmar
Alsace is famous for its production of wine with the vineyards located at the foot of the Vosges. The most renowned wines include Sylvaner, Riesling and Gewurtzraminer. The beer, Kronenbourg, is also produced here. Other regional specialities include choucroute or sauerkraut, flammekueche and bretzels.
The region is noted for its pretty villages and brightly painted half-timbered houses or maison en colombages. Some of these villages such as Eguisheim
are classed as the most beautiful villages in France.
