The Auvergne is home to some of the most beautiful villages of France. The association "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" which was set up in 1982 and chooses the prettiest villages of France has bestowed this title on no less than 11 villages of the Auvergne. There are now 142 villages in its lists with only 4 regions in the whole of France boasting more villages listed than the Auvergne....
