Kitchen facilities
B&B and catered guests can enjoy our delicious home cooking, freshly baked cakes, and seasonal produce. Where possible, we use organic meat, dairy produce and vegetables, doing our best to support artisan producers locally and in the surrounding area.
The spacious kitchen has two double sinks, two ovens and a 5 ring gas hob, two larder fridges, a freezer, dishwasher, food mixer, blender and kettle. It's fully equipped with cookware, pans, crockery and glassware.
External facilities
Enjoy a scrumptious afternoon tea at one of the bistro tables scattered around the garden and terraces. Or relax with a book and a glass of our organic cava in the shade of the old stone arch (formerly a bread oven). Wander up the rustic steps past our new terraced herb garden, or take a peek at the small organic potager we’ve just established. For a leisurely ramble, take the charming woodland path behind behind the house leading up to the village church and some lovely local walks.
Special features
Maison Caramel is part of a very large 19th century alpine farmhouse that we've split it into two self-contained parts: the main farmhouse / B&B (also available as a 6 bedroom luxury gite); and Chalet Caramelli on the top floor (see the linked advert).
The two parts have their own independent access and gardens, and are very private. The whole house is also available for rent, either on a catered or self-catered basis. This gives a total of 10 ensuite bedrooms (sleeping upto 27 people). Contact us for prices and availability.
On a B&B basis, prices start from 60€ for a room, or 65€pp half-board. We also offer special alpine walking, cycling and skiing holiday packages for groups and individuals. See www.maisoncaramel.com for more details.
Local activities
Wander through flower-filled meadows, explore unspoilt alpine villages or hike up into the rugged mountains of the Vanoise National Park on the GR5 – all direct from the doorstep. Caramelli is in a great spot for road cyclists too. An easy ride from the chalet are the starts of some of the legendary col climbs of the French Alps, including the Col de la Madeleine, Col du Petit St Bernard and the Col de l’Iseran. The Tour de France regularly starts or ends in Bourg St Maurice, 7km along the valley.
For white water rafting, take a trip with H2O, our rafting partner, from their purpose-built base on the Isere just down the road. The local skiing is excellent too, with 420kms of slopes for every level. Located in the Peisey-Vallandry ski resort and at the heart of Paradiski (Les Arcs + La Plagne), Landry is just a short drive from the ski lifts – open in the summer too. You can also explore the resorts of Ste Foy, Val d'Isere, Tignes and the Three Valleys (all within 60 mins drive).

Location
Perfect for an alpine walking, cycling or skiing holiday, Maison Caramel is in the quaint rural village of Landry on the edge of the Vanoise National Park and just minutes from the ski lifts of Les Arcs and La Plagne. The village itself has two bars, a restaurant and general store with an excellent butcher. Landry’s train station is just 15 mins walk (trains from Lyon, Grenoble, Paris), and there's a free shuttle to the lifts in summer and winter, so you don't need a car.
Living rooms
Tucked into the wooded hillside under the village’s 17th century church, Maison Caramel is a boutique B&B and gite with bags of relaxed rustic charm. It has terraced gardens from which to soak up the views on lazy summer afternoons – and thick stone walls, log stoves and feather duvets for those chilly winter evenings. Stylishly renovated to combine alpine charm with modern comforts, it’s the perfect place to unwind and relax.
The spacious guest sitting room has kept the exposed stone wall of the original barn. It has a log stove, comfortable sofas and lovely mountain views. Along the hall is the kitchen and dining room with doors opening out onto the garden and terraces - where breakfast and dinner is served weather permitting. There’s also a cosy library with sofas, lots of books, our DVD collection and a gorgeous crimson wood burning stove. An old stone hallway, panelled in the original roof timbers, runs the length of the house from the garden grotto to the entrance hall.
Bedrooms
As a B&B, Maison Caramel has five charming ensuite bedrooms, all preserving the feeling of french farmhouse simplicity, but with heated towel rails, hair dryers, guest robes and slippers, and complementary organic toiletries.
