The kitchen/dining area is open plan, so cooking is congenial. There is an impressive carved Henri II walnut buffet and the dining table was made from an old wine press. The chairs are comfortable, Equipment includes top quality stainless steel saucepans and cutlery, attractive serving ware and glasses; all match, nothing is chipped and the knives are really sharp. There is a gas cooker & hood, microwave, fridge toaster, kettle, cafetiere, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board, hoover & towels
External facilities
There are a number of private sitting areas, a half moon terrace with seat & splendid view, a Kiwi Terrace overlooking the garden with shady seat for hot days, a woodland garden opposite the gite for secluded drinks or reading, a swinging chair, poolside seat to watch our Salamanders, frogs & crested newts, another pond with goldfish & carp and soothing water feature, elsewhere, a little table with chairs for the last of the sun and of course, your very own private patio area with chairs and bbq
Special features
Special features of the property are the quality of the restoration, the evident love of wood throughout, and attention to detail, ensuring guests really enjoy their stay. During the growing season, we offer our guests produce from the garden - salad, soft frui t, tomatoes, haricot vert and of course wonderful eggs from our chickens and quail. Without intruding on our guests privacy, we keep them informed of local events and special places to visit, the gite has lots of up to date local and regional information, plus a guest book where previous guests pass on their recommendations about restaurants, etc. Being bi lingual and living here full time for the past 10 years, we really know the area and can help our guests get the most of their time here.
Local activities
Local activities most people enjoy are walking, ( many organised as well as individual walks,) riding, visiting mediaeval villages and towns, many lovely churches and abbeys, a trip to our local waterfall, and further afield, hot air ballooning ( a great way to see the volcanos of the Auvergne,) canoeing, tree top walking (5 minutes away) The birds, butterflies and stars (no light pollution) together with the river side beaches created for the Summer months in the attractive towns of Roanne and Vichy, and swimming in superb outside pools and lakes, make it a good area to be active if you want to be - or simply enjoy the rural peace and do nothing.

Location
Equidistant between the towns of Roanne & Vichy, An excellent base for walking, riding & day trips to the adjoining departments of the Loire, Auvergne & Burgundy with rivers, chateaux, vineyards, shopping, restaurants, musical events & much more to enjoy. Our local village of Arfeuilles is the last remaining place in France to host the annual Coup d’Oie on August 15 , a spectacular equestrian event, & in July/August there is the Festival of Music in locations throughout Monts de la Madeleine.

The sitting room is light and airy with huge windows and beautiful floral views; It is comfortably furnished with two sofas, interesting Moroccan furniture and lighting, wall hangings and carvings, the polished terracotta flooring has Indian rugs and there is a wide selection of books, board games, tapes and a CD player; n old French chest holds your sun bed and other cushions; French doors lead out to your private patio.
Bedrooms
The mezzanine bedroom has a King size bed and unique furniture made and hand painted by us, there are romantic drapes and a balcony, lots of storage and discreet lighting with lamps from Morocco; rugs, mirrors, wall hangings and the pale green and cream colours create a restful ambiance. The twin room has a superb view and is decorated in pale yellow and blue; lots of storage, mirrors, rugs and lamps, Douglas pine wood floors throughout.
There is aspacious Italian douche with local stone tiles, wonderful view…… sink, mirror, light with shaver point, heater, and toiletries rack and three towels per person per week included; there is a separate wc, with sink, handtowel and a great view of the garden, poultry yard and orchard.
