The compact kitchen contains sink, refrigerator, 4 ring gas cooker with oven, microwave, toaster and electric kettle and is fully equipped with pretty crockery and everything required for preparing meals.
External facilities
Guests have full use of the courtyard and garden which has countryside views and guests are welcome to pick as much produce as available in season. A secure garage is provided for guests' motorcars.
Special features
The house is available in the longer term for house-hunters. The owners are happy to share their experiences of house-hunting and house-buying in France and to make introductions to local estate agents.
The house is also available for long weekends throughout the year.
Well-behaved pets are welcome at a small additional cost.

Local activities
With its impressive Romanesque church and medieval houses, Civray boasts two colourful weekly markets, a cinema, outdoor swimming-pool, sports centre, the unique Pheasant Garden, small museum and library with internet access. The town is ideally placed for outdoor and country pursuits of all kinds, the river winding through the centre attracting walkers and fishermen alike and the outdoor recreation pond of St. Macoux with its swimming, canoing and fishing only a short drive away.
In the heart of Romanesque Vienne, the area is rich in culture with many churches, chateaux and pretty villages to explore. Close by are the modern attractions of Futurscope, Monkey Valley and the coastal resort of La Rochelle. More soberly, there are many reminders of the French Resistance Movement, the martyred town of Oradour-sur-Glane being within easy reach.

Location
Built about 1850 this typical French townhouse is adjacent to the owner's home. It is within five minutes' walk of the centre of Civray, a charming and ancient market town on the River Charente and ideally placed for house-hunters as well as holiday-makers, easily reached by road, rail and air.
Living rooms
The open-plan salle de sejour is simply but comfortably furnished with sofa and two armchairs, dining area and kitchen alcove. Double French doors with shutters give onto a covered verandah which leads into the sunny courtyard and garden where you will find a barbecue and outdoor furniture. Entertainment is provided by a television, radio, books and games. With beautiful oak floors, the original staircase winds to the upper floor. The shower-room with washbasin and lavatory is on the ground floor. There is an open log fire for winter evenings and the house is also centrally heated.
Bedrooms
There are two spacious bedrooms, one with double bed and one with twin beds, both with original shuttered windows, one looking onto the garden and one onto the lane at the side of the house. Wardrobes and bedside tables with reading lamps complete the funishings. A second lavatory is on this floor.
