Perhaps the biggest concern for any family moving to Limousin is how easily will their children settle here and the quality of the education they will receive. We met up with one family who came to live in the Limousin three years ago and since then they have very much made the Limousin their home..jpg)
One of the many reasons cited by families moving to Limousin is for a better life for the children. Well what could be better than getting them involved in the good life from day one....
Well you have made the big move to Limousin, just starting to feel settled and then you find out you are expecting a baby. No one would be surprised if your first reaction is "I want to go home." Don't panic help is at hand..
It is a new year and I am starting a healthy eating regime.
A Limousin family's trip back to the U.K. for Christmas celebrations took a few unexpected turns as the car broke down and snow brought chaos to roads throughout France as well as Ferries stuck in the ports, oh and did I mention chicken pox!.....

With two boys and an outdoor enthusiast husband, regular contibutor Deborah Baldwin finds herself roped in to a fishing competition.... Fishing is not Deborah's idea of a good day out!...
French school children do get lots of homework and are provided with a list at the end of the school year of all the equipment and stationery they will be required to have at the start of the next year. The list is extensive and can run up to a couple of hundred euros, but a payment is awarded from the CAF (French child benefit) that meets the bulk of the cost.

Now, when we talked about moving to France we talked wine, food, the larger house and garden, our bilingual children, etc, etc, etc. Not once did we, or more to the case I, even consider the fact that France is actually populated with creatures that have more legs than us.....
Deborah Baldwin has been telling us about her family's experiences of moving to Limousin. Since her last update she has found out she is now expecting her third child.............
Now, having found our barn, the major part of our French dream it was, sadly, time to stop the “petite vacance” and return to the real world. The next step on the agenda was getting Charlie into school......
Having settled into the caravan, August and September were spent having a semi vacation, barn hunting and getting used to French life.....

As well as the wonderful landscapes, the Limousin is also home to a great many attractions. Whether you are in to museums or motorbikes, there are loads of great places to visit for all the family.
My daughter, Lily, was born on 29 September at the Clinique des Emailleurs in Limoges. I was not resident in France at the start of my pregnancy and for three full months straddled the two health systems of England and France. As a result, I now have a fair insight into some of the differences between the two systems and can provide some (hopefully useful) information to those who find themselves embarking on having a baby in France....
