Property description
It was a dull old day when I went to visit this property – one of the few grey days we have in this part of France. However, the owner had a roaring fire in the wood burner and I was struck how homely the place felt. This is a renovation project that has been completed to a very high standard and all the traditional features of the property such as wooden floors and ceiling beams, fireplaces and original stonework have been retained. However the owners have installed modern conveniences such as double glazing, central heating and mains drainage. The house sits in the heart of a very pretty hamlet close to the Dordogne border and is handy for local shops. Also, it is only a thirty minute drive from Limoges airport.
Inside: On the ground floor is a very large kitchen/dining room of 40m² and, next to it, an equally large lounge area (30m²) with magnificent open fireplace. Also on this level is a room the current owners use as an office (24m²) but its use could be flexible. There is also a shower room/wc (4m²) and two entrance halls of 4 and 16m². Upstairs are four large bedrooms of 25, 18, 18 and 14m² and the master bedroom has an en-suite shower/wc (5m²). There is also a large family bathroom on this level of 16m².
Outside: The house has a private garden at the rear which includes an old bread oven. There is also an unattached piece of woodland close by which kept the owners wood burner going throughout the last winter!
This is a lovely property that would make a great family home. It is finished to a high standard with all modern conveniences yet retains a traditional feel. The current owners have obviously put a lot of hard work into the place and, most of all, they have managed to infuse a sense of “home” into what were a collection of unwanted farm buildings.
