Situated in a village, less than 10 minutes from picture postcard Brantome on a hillside in a lovely rural hamlet. The main house is entered through a conservatory, the ideal place to leave those muddy boots after a country walk. The second house (gite) is a lovingly restored period cottage and converted adjoining barn which makes for a spacious property with original features in every room. Inside, you will be delighted by the two characterful living rooms on the ground floor, one with an original fireplace, wooden beamed ceiling and hand crafted solid oak wood staircase. The other is a light and spacious room (6.8m x 6.3m) with central wooden beam, beige, brown and cream marble tiled flooring, rustic stone walls and 2m x 2m oak wood French doors with panelled windows. The gite also enjoys a fully equipped large kitchen/dining room with wood burning stove in another feature fireplace. Upstairs houses four beautifully appointed bedrooms. Both houses are served by 2 meg wireless broadband, English satellite TV that includes ALL the terrestial channels including 2s, 3s and 4s plus dishes ready for German and French TV if desired.
Travel links are within easy reach with airports such as Bordeaux (120 mins) , Limoges, Bergerac (both 90 mins) and Summer 2008; Angouleme for international flights just half an hour away. Angouleme also runs daily TGV services through to the Eurostar terminals of Paris and Lille, a journey of just two and two and a half hours respectively. All amenities are within minutes of easy reach including good local schools, doctors, dentists and shopping/markets/restaurants/bars. The locale offers some great communities with a vibrant social life and activities both French and English including a local bowls club. Picturesque and well known villages are dotted very close by such as Brantome, Nontron, Verteillac, Riberac, Saint Jean de Cole and of course the beautiful Roman Cities of Périgueux and Angouleme for every possible shopping and other services desire.
