The 21st Toques & Clochers wine festival will be held in the village of Couiza south of Carcassonne, over the weekend of the 27th - 28th of March 2010. The festival, celebrating and promoting the chardonnay wines of the region, is an important date each year for local wine producers and international wine buyers. For the rest of us the festival is simply a good old fashioned knees up! 
On April 17th - 18th 2010, the city of Nîmes and Culturespaces, the administrator of the Nîmes Arena, present ‘A Gathering of the Roman Antiquity in France’ as never seen before. Gladiator combats, parades, shows, Roman encampments, themed visits and much more… Live in the Roman age for a weekend! 
The Carcassonne Festival is one of the major cultural events in the south of France with nearly 100 shows on offer covering a range of genres and tastes (including opera, dance, theatre, classical music, French and international popular music); and what’s more than 70 of these shows are free! From end of June to August the 2010 Carcassonne Festival will features acts and shows from across the spectrum including performances by Jamiriquai, Mika and Johnny Clegg. 
The annual Fecos (Carnival) de Limoux starts on 10th January 2010 and will run on until the 21st March 2010. The torch lit evening processions are sombre and mystical - an incredible sight for the uninitiated! 
A visit to the Languedoc is incomplete without experiencing the local traditions surrounding bulls and horses. One of the high points of the Nimes calendar are the Ferias, lasting most of a week, focussed around the Arena where bullfighting (Corrida) in the Spanish tradition takes place.
