The following was found by GBM who we thank for bringing to everyones attention :!:

I have spoken today with EDF who have told me about a special phone line and email address that have been set up to assist English speaking clients.

Before people tell me off I know we should all be learning French but in some cases it is very difficult to sort out problems that may occur if you just have a basic level of French and some people may find this useful.

    The phone number is 05 62 16 49 08 or if calling from outside of France 0033 562 16 49 08

    The email is – http://bleuciel.edf.com/particuliers-54272.html

I hope this may be of use as I found the service excellent today and the manager on the phone asked me if I knew of any ways to publicise these details as the service will be removed in the future as it is not currently used enough!

    Regards
    Nigel

Sadly you have to persevere, they have a limited number of staff that can speak English, but at least EDF & Orange have a foreign language line

So it’s still going after all these years? Interesting.

    Is the English healthline still going? Used to be 08 11 36 36 46 Mon-Fri 09h00 – 18h00.

My Mum tried this number today and ended up talking to a lady in French, who was apprently “cut off” even though my Mum speaks reasonable French. She did give her a number for English speaking people, but when my Mum spoke to this line, the gentleman was very helpful but told my Mum she was talking to someone in Guadaloupe!!!!
Does anyone have a number for EDF which is English speaking or sympathetic to non French??

Have used the English line many times and found them always helpful. Strange though because earlier this week I phoned and it transferred straight to the French number. I got cut off while he sorted out a rendez-vous, so phoned back, again got transferred automatically to the French one and then finally got the rendez-vous. Luckily I speak enough French but just wasnt sure if I could explain the problem but it seems to have worked out OK.

What has happened to the EDF English Help LINE?
I have been ringing them for days now to give a final reading as we have sold our house and would like to pay the bill
Every time I ring it is answered by a Person who cannot speak English at All !
I asked why is this the English Helpline if no one can speak English, Answer, we are understaffed ! and we need people who can speak English !! anyone want a job?

Don’t waste your time ringing any of the English Help Line numbers because there is no one there to help you.

I have resorted to Emailing and also writing to them with the numbers as they do not even have a office in the area !!! give me soregies any time, we even have their office in the town, but we are all on EDF??

Whenever I have spoken to the EDF English line in my area they have always spoken good English and been very helpful – the last call I made was about 2 months ago.

I phoned within the last 2 weeks to the number that covers the Centre of France and it was definitely only French. Looks like Issie encountered the same.

Looks like its a question of you may be lucky or may not be! I understand they may be short staffed and I know its not a right but the lady that spoke to my Mum was quite unpleasant, which is totally unnecessary!! Will try again as soon as….

I used the English help line today, and had absolute perfect service, not only polite and efficient, but the girl actually gave me a cheaper alternative, that I did not know about, to what I was really enquiring about.

Having a general chat with her, they are a small depatrment of 20 people who want to extend the service to the 300,000 English customers of EDF but need more people, so, if you have had good service from the help line, she asks if you will please send an email to the departmental chef saying so! address is:
