    Hmmm.

I’d wait a couple of months, and avoid the automatic upgrade.

Then again, the introduction of a new OS might go swimmingly … ;)

Is it worth doing? This Luddite is only just beginning to understand a bit about Win 7 & I’ve had it for yonks. I couldn’t stand the thought of starting over again unless there was a real benefit in changing.

The article says the official launch date is 29th July 2015. You have until the 29th June 2016 to get it free as an update.

I struggled with 8, downloaded 8.1 and got to grips with it, think I’ll stay where I am.

I would always want to see an advantage to an upgrade – and that as many of the bugs were fixed as possible – before doing the upgrade. Been stung before :)

So I wouldn’t sign up for an automatic upgrade. They say the upgrade will be free for a year, so I’d leave it 2/3 months and then see if I could see advantages in the new version.

I shall be upgrading and updating as soon as possible, hopefully on the evening of the 29th when the french Microsoft servers open for business.
I shall observe with interest the valiant members of the forum regarding the new Policy of Microsoft on updates.

It could take quite a while before all users get the offer to download their reserved copy of Win 10 as the rollout will be in stages. It might be worth waiting for a month or six anyway until all the initial bugs are sorted out. A couple of days ago they found a problem with Home versions where the software gets automatic updates http://hexus.net/tech/news/software/84977-microsoft-releases-windows-10-tool-hideblock-updates/

    From http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2015/07/02/windows-10-preparing-to-upgrade-one-billion-devices/
How To Know When You’re Ready to Upgrade
Starting on July 29, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users.
If you reserved your copy of Windows 10, we will notify you once our compatibility work confirms you will have a great experience, and Windows 10 has been downloaded on your system.
If your system is not ready yet for your upgrade to Windows 10, we will provide more details during the upgrade experience. In some cases, we will include contact information so you can follow up directly with an application provider or device manufacturer to learn more. For most upgrade incompatibilities, you may still choose to complete the upgrade, and find alternative compatible solutions in the Windows Store after you upgrade.

Have a look on your hard drive for a ‘hidden’ folder called “$Windows.~BT”.

This will have been created and downloaded to by Microsoft, if you have already signed up to receive the upgrade. It should be around 3gb in size. If you have this already it is likely MS will give you the green light soon.

Hi I have got an update compatibility message this morning with desktop PC.
NVIDIA GeForce 7500LE will not work with Windows 10.
On Nvidia site did GPU check and installed a more recent driver GeForce 309.08.
Seems I am not the only one with an Nvidia GPU card problem.
    Any suggestions please.
