Sheridan, I think you should be more tolerant and I find your attitude to those. Who won’t declare their location with 100% accuracy slightly bigoted!

You know im only pulling your leg!

What would Joe think about all this?

It might also be useful if fully resident posters said whether they were posting as an “Ex-Pat” or as an “Immigrant”.:lol::lol:

Liked this suggestion so much immediately updated my profile :D

I am sure I speak for many members when I say I don’t give a toss whether people put their correct, or any, location on their profile. I do care about bigotry and racism which need to be challenged at every opportunity.

Off on a tangent again, why :? ,.This thread is not about bigots or racists and no one has said a word (except you) about them.

Apparently psychiatrists are unhappy with the term ”schizophrenia” and want a new term. But they’re still in two minds about what to change it to.

Of course, a few of us are neither expats nor immigrants, but merely repatriated.

Over the last year or so, there seems to have been a real outbreak on here of people whose location is given as somewhere in France, yet who make it clear through their postings that they actually aren’t full-time residents.

    Any particular reason?

Maybe they feel that by giving a French address their comments will gain a certain gravitas. This is a basic dishonesty, if you live part time in France then, as does ‘Jane’, say so, so that others can give a certain weight to the comment.
I do take the two locations in the order stated thus:-
‘Lower Slough’ followed by Charente shows me that someone is more UK based (Holiday home).
Charente- lower Slough, occasional visits back to Eaton.
Both tells me that they are not full time French residents.
While Charente- ex lower Slough would show where they used to live :)

ME? 24800 Thiviers & the Camper while travelling – ex North Devon

Acko and me both ex North Devonians.

I came to this late and, after reading the first 2 pages, skipped to the end.

    Agree with you, BS.

Still, takes all sorts to keep a forum going, so guess we’ll have to take the rough with the smooth from time to time.

Instead of topping myself, am off to chop wood …….. seem to recall you have it delivered by the lorryload ……. suggest you vent your frustrations by cracking a few logs! :)

Hopefully this thread has now run its course.

IMHO That means s*d all. My profile says I live permenantly in the Dordogne but you would be idiotic to give more weight to my postings than someone else. I’ve only lived here for 6 months and a person who has had a holiday home for years would be more likely to have the answer to a question than I would.I could post my opinion but rarely do as I feel I know next to nothing about the french system and am still finding my way.But following your logic you would give more weight to my answer

What is the relevance of your having been a bus driver?

I have just skimmed through all 17 pages during the adverts in Countdown, but I can’t find anyone inventing a previous life, or even mentioning their former career. Have I missed something?
On some threads, for example about education, health, or parenting, a person’s past experience could be very relevant.
