In the last few years we have seen a lot of change on one of our favourite parks in the Vendee. Investment in facilities and nice new plots for owners has seen an increase in popularity for this pretty park.
Just 12km from the golden beaches of Bretignolles-Sur-Mer and located within the grounds of a charming 19th century château is Camping Château La Forêt, a stunning 4-star park with more character than you can shake a stick at!
Offering a unique combination of relaxation with an abundance of activities on offer, there really is something for everyone on this 50 hectare park making it an ideal place to own a holiday home.
Families and couples alike can enjoy all-weather fun in the covered pool complex with its waterslides and brand new toboggan, whilst tucked away behind the château, is an outdoor heated pool for those who prefer a more tranquil environment. For adrenaline junkies head to the tree top adventure course and zip wire across the lake or challenge the family to some paintballing in the forest perhaps.
For those looking for a quieter lifestyle there’s an abundance of outdoor space to be enjoyed here. Kick back and watch the world go by from the banks of the park’s own private fishing lake, soak up the atmosphere at the new lakeside café and bar area, take a gentle stroll around the château grounds and into the forest or perhaps take a short walk into the pretty little village of St Julien-des-Landes.
Down tools in the evening and simply relax on your decking or head over to the courtyard restaurant and bar area to sample some of the finest local delicacies, enjoy the atmosphere and make new friends. Just behind the courtyard and new for 2017 is the Orangerie, a purpose built 250m2 venue which houses evening entertainment in high season and is a wedding and bespoke events out of season.
If you fancy heading out and about in the local area in the evening then there are plenty of options out there too. The pretty fishing town of Les Sables d’Olonne is a 30 minute drive away (22km) where you will find a good selection of eateries and roadside artisan market stalls in a lovely setting overlooking the marina.
Closer to the park is the seaside town of Bretignolles-sur-Mer (12km) which is not only home to the nearest beach but also to some great shops, bars and restaurants too. The Michelin star restaurant Hôtellerie Les Brisants by the award winning chef Jean Marc Pérocho here is well worth a visit with its fine food and amazing views overlooking the sea.
Home owners at Château La Forêt really do get the best of both worlds. Pitches are large, grassy and located in a private area away from the bustle of the main campsite yet close enough to make the most of the facilities, activities and entertainment on offer. Owners have access to the park from April 1st until October 30th and the park owner (who is extremely helpful, friendly and who also speaks fluent English), will accept homes from all of the UK leading manufacturers as well as approved pre-owned home from Eurobase, so there are plenty of options available to suit all budgets. There are some very large plots for owners on a new section of the park available, so if you would like to know more, simply get in touch.
All in all a great place to have a holiday home on the continent.
