Top Places to Own Summer Property

Well-known for being a perfect region for skiing during the winter season, Rhône-Alpes also invites you to come and enjoy memorable times during the summer.

With two national parks, six regional nature parks, and dozens of nature reserves, water attractions and intimate beauty spots, the Rhône-Alpes is definitely the region of unspoilt nature!

If you considering spending more time in this lovely region by buying a property, here comes some information on where to find the perfect place:

Savoie and Haute-Savoie: Lake or Mountains?

Those two departments are well-positioned for access to Lakes and Mountain, helping it become an increasingly popular area in which to settle. With its exceptional landscape of Lake and mountains, its cultural, sporting and games activities, friendly events and grand festival, it’s a very desirable place to live and, as a result, properties can be quite expensive. However, the rental market is very stable with an average return of 8% per year.

Isere: Authentic Mountains!

Mountains are obviously the area’s main force of attraction for summer leisure activities. Ideally located in the middle of the mountains, it is a perfect point of access to two national parks: “le Vercors” and “la Chartreuse”. Here in some beautiful villages, chalets or apartments are still available at reasonable prices compared to luxury ski resorts such as Courchevel or Miribel in Savoie/Haute-Savoie.

Rhône, Ain and Loire:

Lyon

These departments offer scenery and landscapes where nature and country side are right next to large cities. Lyon has a thriving arts scene, an opera house, museums and monuments, superb shopping and some of the country’s true gourmet tables. Saint Etienne is a land of traditional skills, it has retained countless traces of its rich industrial history.

The Rhône region, except around Lyon where prices are high but with an excellent average return on investment, is relatively undiscovered and offers attractive prices for those seeking an easy-to-reach holiday home.

Ain and Loire are two departments that were ignored by second-home buyers until recently. It is worth noting that they offer the best-value for money properties in the area at the moment.

Drôme and Ardèche:

Lyon

When you arrive in the Drôme and Ardèche, you will be immediately charmed by the landscape, beautiful colours and heavenly scents. Enjoy discovering local villages, with their wealth of history and architecture. The friendly locals who are proud of their heritage will welcome you in their region with open arms. Here, property prices remain good compared to Provence real Estate Market and are set to grow over the coming years.
