Sponsored Content
Building on the more than twenty years of experience of the American School of Grenoble and developing our vision of creating an international school of excellence, we are rebranding with a new name and logo in September 2024. The International School of the Alps provides a high-quality, accredited anglophone curriculum to students aged 11 to 18.
Grenoble: an international community at the heart of the Alps
Situated in Grenoble in the French Alps, our school is close to both Geneva and Lyon airports. The city has a large international community with major multinational companies, universities, and research centers. Grenoble is an attractive city to live in, with an excellent public transport network and a strong outdoor sports philosophy. The city is surrounded by mountain ranges popular for both summer and winter sports activities.
Our school encourages innovation in teaching and learning with a dynamic and experienced teaching team. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools, guaranteeing the excellence of our programs and commitment to student well-being. We participate in an annual Model United Nations in partnership with the International School of Lyon that builds students’ Global citizenship awareness. In addition, as Grenoble is considered France’s ‘Silicon Valley, ‘ we have been able to create partnerships with Hi-Tech industries and research centers to encourage learning about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). We believe schools should be engaging and encourage students to take responsibility for their learning. Our mission is for students to become global citizens with a life-long love of learning.
Why choose the International School of the Alps for your children?
The school is intentionally small, with average class sizes of ten to fifteen students. This enables our teachers to individualize and differentiate their teaching to each student’s particular needs. Our small size also creates a family feel that allows us to assist students and families with the often-challenging transition to a new school and country. As part of this transition, all of our students receive French language and culture lessons. We encourage students to join local extracurricular activities, and we organize partnerships with local French schools.
Our Middle school (grade six, seven, and eight) program follows the principles of the Middle Year Program of the International Baccalaureate, encouraging students to embrace diversity and international cooperation. In grades nine to ten, students are encouraged to take International GCSE exams to demonstrate their mastery of key subjects. Graduating students receive a high school diploma and are encouraged to take International A-level exams in the final grades eleven and twelve.
Our strong Guidance Counselling program assists students throughout their schooling to make the right choice for their future. All of our students pursue their studies in further education. We have students attending some world-renowned institutions such as Oxford University, McGill University, Science Po Paris, University Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble Ecole de Management, University of Lausanne, and the University of Amsterdam.
So why not come and join the unique and life-changing experience that is the International School of the Alps?
