Le Deran is a beautiful thatched cottage near Guemene-sur-Scorff in Morbihan, Brittany. The cottage sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms and has a lovely enclosed garden and above ground swimming pool, making it the ideal holiday retreat for a larger family of all ages.

The property still retains a lot of its original charm and character, including a thatched roof, oak-beamed ceilings and granite fireplace. Inside, it is tastefully decorated with a fabulous, bespoke oak kitchen and large oak dining table and chairs. An excellent feature of the kitchen is the large double doors that open out on to the sunny patio area, complete with seating and a barbecue – perfect for al fresco dining with a glass of wine on a hot summers evening! Upstairs are 4 good size bedrooms, with plenty of storage space in each room.

Large Garden for All the Family to Enjoy

Outside, the property has a lovely garden complete with plenty to keep the whole family entertained, including table tennis, badminton and boules. The above ground pool is for the exclusive use of guests at Le Deran, and is perfect for cooling off on a hot summer’s day. If you want to relax, there are plenty of sun loungers and parasols to help you make the most of the good weather.

Perfectly Located for Those Who Enjoy Activity Holidays

There is plenty to see and do nearby for visitors of all ages, including the famous collection of prehistoric standing stones in Carnac. Also just 30 minutes’ drive away from Le Deran is Lac de Guerledan which has a huge range of leisure activities for all ages. Watersports range from gentler activities such as pedalos and canoeing, all the way up to adrenaline filled water-skiing! With its beautiful landscapes and forests, Lac de Guerledan is also a haven for walkers and cyclists with miles of paths to explore. The lake’s sandy beaches are ideal for children with safe swimming and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes so you can spend the whole day there.

There are many pretty Breton towns to discover in the local area including Quimper, Concarneau, Auray, Port Louis, Vannes, and Josselin to name but a few. A visit to a French market is a must whilst you are at Le Deran, make sure to sample the fresh local produce such as seafood, cheeses and bread, and to soak up the typically French atmosphere!

A Home Away from Home

Le Deran is owned by Rachel Steel and her family, who have lived in Brittany since 2005. The property is actually their family home that is rented out to guests during the summer months, so you can be sure that the cottage is a real home from home and well equipped with everything you may need during your stay. Rachel and family live on-site in a neighbouring building throughout the summer, so are on hand to answer any questions you may have without being intrusive, and are also willing to offer pony rides and the grooming of their 3 friendly ponies, which children are sure to love!
