Hello, I am an American and British passport holder currently residing in Spain. I hold a renewable 5 year Spanish Residency Permit that expires in December 2025. My question is as follows, as a holder of a Spanish Residency Card who wishes to relocate and reside in France, is it correct to assume I have an exemption from having to apply for a French Long Stay Visa to move to France with the intention of applying for residency? The French Visa site, I believe, shows I am exempt but I am looking for confirmation of this situation. Any assistance is greatly appreciated, kind regards, Steven.

Good morning Steven, I am unable to answer your question but my wife and I are in exactly the same position. We are long term permanent SPANISH RESIDENTS (31 YEARS) and have purchased a house in France and wish to change our residency. We have just returned from the UK and will be here in France for the next few months. As Spanish residents do we have to leave France after 90 days ?. Once having applied for a Carte Sejour are we affected by the 90 day rule? Can anyone help clear up this "grey area" Many thanks
