ANTIBES

Alpes-Maritimes

The Côte d’Azur is a sought-after area and many of us dream of having the opportunity to purchase a property here to take advantage of the Mediterranean lifestyle. The region varies from hillier landscapes inland to beautiful stretches of coastline, and the resort of Antibes offers both. Take your pick of the 48 beaches across the 25km peninsula, including the suburb of Juan-les-Pins, or head to the hills for unparalleled views.

This area has also attracted some of the world’s greatest artists and Picasso spent time painting here in 1946. Château Grimaldi has a museum of some of his works with a fabulous view of the bay of Antibes as a backdrop. Just a few steps away, you will find the Cours Masséna, home to the traditional covered market (Marché Provençal). A riot of colour and sound is on display here from early morning right through to the summer night markets, all accompanied by the various street musicians and artists who perform alongside.

When it comes to property, you will find that Cap d’Antibes is more of a residential area. It’s home to the many private, exclusive estates and luxury hotels, including the iconic Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. Naturally pricing is expensive here, but you can head into the old town for an apartment or townhouse, painted in the warm ochre colours that are so typical of the region.

One-bed apartments can start from just €200,000 and will increase with sea view. A two-bedroom apartment in a shared residence within walking distance of the beach can start from as little as €300,000. If you are looking outside of town, take your pick from the hillside villages. There are also some great opportunities for holiday homes with rental potential in apartment complexes or domaines.

Well-maintained properties within easy access of the coast and amenities will always have great rental potential, and the market here enjoys an extended rental period due to the favourable climate. Holidaymakers are also drawn by annual events such as the Cannes film festival, Monaco Grand Prix and a full calendar of festivals. Antibes is just a short drive from Nice’s Côte d’Azur airport and there is also a railway station with connections to Marseille, Nice and Paris.
