The latest Covid-19 booster vaccines will be available from April 15th as part of France’s Spring 2024 booster campaign.

Who is eligible for a booster shot in France?

Booster shots are available to all over 18s in France. However, they are most recommended for those over 80, anyone living in EHPADS or other elderly and care homes, or anyone with medical conditions that leave them immunocompromised.

When do I need to get my booster shot?

Covid boosters are currently optional in France, and they will be made available until June 16th, 2024.

What happens if I catch Covid-19?

If you receive a positive Covid-19 test result in France, you will not be eligible for a booster vaccine until three months after the date of recovery.

How to Make an Appointment for a Covid-19 Vaccine Booster in France

You can book an appointment for your booster shot with your GP or directly at a participating pharmacy.

Remember to take your Carte Vitale with you when booking or attending your appointment.

Booster shots are covered by your Carte Vitale – as long as you are registered for France’s state healthcare, you will not have to pay.

Can I get my Covid-19 booster and my flu shot at the same time?

France’s medical regulator (HAS) has given approval for combined appointments where the Covid vaccine and flu shot can be administered at the same time. So, if you have not yet received your flu shot, this might be a convenient option to save time.

    i am a visitor to France. I am here until late January. My second vaccination was 6 months ago. Is it possible to get a booster before i return to the uk?

      Hi Ray, Unfortunately, as with most other countries, France's vaccination programme is currently only open to those resident in France.

        Hi Ray and Peter, As with the main vaccination programme, Covid-19 boosters in France are only available to residents of France. However, if you live in France and do not yet have your Carte Vitale, it is still possible to get a booster. Expect to be asked for proof of residency and/or proof that your original vaccinations were carried out in France. Zoe
